- The US Forest Service, Chugach National Forest, intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order, using simplified acquisition procedures, to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to conduct aerial surveys of known wolverine habitat areas in the Turnagain Arm and Kenai Mountains for the purpose of collecting data to calculate the population size for the areas. This data will be used to compare wolverine abundance within and outside areas used for heli-skiing. This information will provide the Chugach National Forest with better tools to balance heli-skiing activities with wildlife habitat needs. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has the foremost responsibility and authority for the management of wildlife species in the State of Alaska. Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game has trained professionals to do this work efficiently and effectively. They are experienced in aerial survey methods for wolverine. This will result in a modification to an existing purchase order that was synopsized under solicitation number AG-0120-S-09-0010. Total estimated value of this modification is $32,000. No request for proposal is available for a competitive proposal, however, interested parties are encouraged to submit a statement of capability for satisfying this requirement no later than 2 pm Alaska time, 4 January 2011. The applicable NAICS code for this requirement is: 541990. The expected period of performance is approximately Jan 2011 - Dec 2010.
