- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY - Solicitations are not available at this time. Requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. This notice does not constitute a commitment by the United States Government. NOAA's Acquisition & Grants Office, Western Acquisition Division-Boulder, in support of the National Weather Service, Radar Operations Center in Norman, OK seeks potential vendors to provide various maintenance and repair activities to the WSR-88D NEXRAD radar radome. The radomes are constructed by L3 Electronic Space System Corporation (ESSCO), ESSCO Model S38-90. The areas requiring maintenance and repair include the lightning diverter system, aircraft warning lights, cleaning, painting, repairing and replacing radome panels. A qualified vendor would be expected to have the capability to support independent, simultaneous repair activities at a minimum of two NEXRAD locations. Engineering services may also be required in any of the previously mentioned maintenance activities. There are 158 NEXRAD radar sites located around the world. Most of the NEXRAD sites are located within the continental United States; however, there are sites in Korea, Japan, Azores, Hawaii, and Alaska. Many of the sites are located in remote, difficult to reach areas, while others are in the middle of densely populated areas in full view of the general public. Please provide the following information as requested: 1. Describe your company's maintenance experience with L3 Communications (ESSCO) "sandwich" type constructed panels in the areas listed below: A) Radome Panel Replacement and or Repair B) Radome Cleaning C) Radome Painting D) Inspection and report writing 2. Provide information on previous radome maintenance experience. Please provide a point of contact (name, phone number, and email address). 3. Describe your company's experiences with accomplishing maintenance or construction work at overseas locations. 4. Describe the proposed composition of your repair teams that would be supporting repair of NEXRAD radomes under this contract. Do these teams include qualified individuals? Indicate training, experience, and certifications required to qualify for each position and also indicate how many employees are qualified to fill each position on the team. 5. The Contractor shall provide written approval from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), L3 Communications, stating that the OEM will supply radome panels and other materials for the Contractor's use in the performance of this contract. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the United States Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the United States Government. The response date for this RFI is January 07, 2011. No collect calls will be accepted.
