- Special Notice for Next Generation Diagnostic System (NGDS) Increment 1 was posted as belonging under NAICS code 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. This code does not indicate the required capability of the equipment, i.e., diagnostic capability of biological warfare agents. To make this correlation, the NAICS code is revised to 541711, Research and Development Biotechnology. The end item is a FDA approved piece of equipment with diagnostic assays. The requirement should be viewed as an evolutionary acquisition approach, based on a commercially available sytem that may be modified for the intended purpose. The requirement is not solely for R&D services. The period for responding to this special notice is extended to January 31, 2011.
