Description
The U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration, Division of Atlantic Operations, has a requirement for the modification of the Sea Water Cooling Systems onboard the T.S. KENNEDY. The T.S. KENNEDY is a U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) training ship provided to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the purpose of training young men and women for a career in the U.S. Maritime Industry. This solicitation is seeking prospective Offerors to perform the following: 1. Replace two existing sea water cooling pumps and motors with two new 25 horsepower pumps and motors to include modification of the existing pump foundations and associated piping. The new pumps and motors shall be government furnished. All other materials shall be furnished by the Contractor. 2. Modify the existing seawater cooling piping to the ship's two chillers in order to install two new temperature control valves in the condenser outlet piping (versus the inlet piping where they currently are installed). All materials shall be furnished by the Contractor. 3. Replace the existing NIREX water maker 4 inch salt water overboard piping with 6 inch piping. All materials shall be furnished by the Contractor. Stamped approved drawings for the above work shall be provided in the RFQ along with the Statement of Work on this website on or about Wednesday, November 10, 2010. All work shall be performed in accordance with government furnished, stamped approved, drawings. In addition, all work shall comply with all applicable requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and their attending Inspectors and Surveyors. Performance of work shall begin within 3-business days after award and be completed prior to December 15, 2010. All work shall be performed onboard the T.S. KENNEDY which is moored alongside her pier at 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532. ATTENTION: Minority, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs)! The Department of Transportation (DOT), Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers working capital financing in the form of lines of credit to finance accounts receivable for transportation related contracts. Maximum line of credit is $750,000 with interest at the prime rate, as published daily in the Wall Street Journal, plus 1.75 percent.
