- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Heidelberg Instruments of Torrance, California, for the repair and replacement of a Fiber Optic Laser Encoder to an existing Direct Write Laser Lithography System, currently being used by the Center For Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Sole Source determination is based on the need to repair and replace an optic laser encoder. Heidelberg Instruments is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), capable in providing parts and service, in accordance with the original equipment specifications. Heidelberg Instruments is the only known vendor capable in providing the required replacement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. However, responses received by November 8, 2010 will be considered by the Government.
