Description
--THIS SOLICITATION NOTICE IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED PENDING A SUBSTANTIAL AMMENDMENT. THE NEW Q AND A PERIOD AS WELL A NEW CLOSING DATE WILL BE FORTHCOMING-- Stability Operations Training Division (FSI/SPAS/SO) imparts knowledge and develops skills that enable USG interagency personnel to perform the work required for reconstruction and stabilization operations, both in Washington, D.C. and abroad. The Stability Operations Division (SO) offers courses in two distinct but related areas: the first focuses specifically on pre-deployment training for persons assigned as members of the U.S. Mission to Iraq or Afghanistan or as members of provincial reconstruction teams and other field positions in Iraq or Afghanistan; the second focuses broadly on preparing personnel to handle the USG's mandate to perform stabilization and Reconstruction (R&S) activities in fragile nations, particularly members of the Civilian Response Corps (CRC) fostered by the Department of State Office of the Secretary's Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization. In total, SO offers six different courses ranging in length from 3 days to two weeks for Foreign Service and Civil Service employees serving in conflict-prone settings requiring reconstruction and stabilization. Upon request, SO provides country-specific familiarization courses for USG employees and contractors assigned on a temporary basis to assist Embassies in conflict-prone periods.
