- Description
- This is a Justification for why we were unable to compete this procurement. The main supply header just inside of vault 148 has developed a failure within the vacuum jacketed pipe. This procurement is for the repair of that leak and the addition of expansion bellows to prevent future failure. Work consists of, but not limited to, removing existing stainless steel exterior pipe, insulation wrap, locating and repairing the leak, wrapping the pipe with insulation paper and foil, repairing the outer pipe, pulling a vacuum on the repaired section and then checking for leaks using a mass spectrometer. This is an emergency repair as this header section is connected to a 13,000 gallon external tank that is needed to maintain the animal and plant germplasm stored here.
