- The U.S. Government is soliciting interest for a firm, fixed-priced construction contract. Work will consist of the construction of a new American Elementary and Middle School, SHAPE Mons, Belgium (approx. 19,000 m), including the construction of a new American Elementary and Middle School including kindergartens, general purpose classrooms, Host Nation rooms, art rooms, music rooms, gymnasiums, multipurpose room, information centers, specialist rooms, learning impaired, reading recovery, computer lab, supply areas, teacher work rooms, counseling areas, food service area, storage and administrative offices. The project will also include bus loading/unloading areas, mechanical rooms, delivery areas, and playgrounds. Site improvements include signage, fencing, paving, landscaping, covered walkways, exterior lighting and utilities. The facility will be handicapped accessible. The estimated cost of the project is between US $40,000,000 and $70,000,000. Responses are desired from firms who can demonstrate recent experience and excellent past performance in construction of similar facilities, but expressions of interests will be accepted from all interested parties. The qualifications of both the design and construction firm will be evaluated. Solicitation for technical will be issued on or about 17 November 2010. Final proposal for pricing will be issued on or about 14 February 2011. Final proposal receipt is required by 15 March 2011.
