Description
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Human ExplorationFramework Team (HEFT) seeks input from NASA contractors and other commercial spaceflightcompanies on how they and NASA can reduce costs, maintain quality and performance, andimprove the affordability of human spaceflight programs and activities. With theinclusion of the external input received and its own NASA internal discussions, HEFTintends to develop a set of ideas and actions for senior agency management consideration.FORMAT A few members of HEFT and its designees (Exploration Systems and/or Space OperationsMission Directorate employees) will meet with company representatives individually onOctober 21 and Nov. 3-5, 2010 and listen to the company inputs. Industry representativesare encouraged to bring hard-copy materials of their input to accompany theirdiscussion/briefing. We will meet with as many companies as possible during the statedtimeframe. The meeting duration is anticipated to be approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour.We will schedule meetings as requests are received in the order of receipt. If we areunable to meet with all companies during the stated timeframe, written responses will beaccepted until 5 p.m. EDT, Nov. 5, 2010. Written input should be no more than 10 pagessingle-spaced and submitted to Ms. Marguerite Broadwell at Marguerite.Broadwell@nasa.gov.BACKGROUND HEFT is NASAs highest-level, cross-agency decision-support function for planning thefuture of human space exploration. Decision support means conducting credible, objective, consistent, coherent, and transparent analysis to help inform decisions made by NASAleadership. HEFT will develop an initial architecture and concept of operations based onstakeholder objectives/constraints and core principles that provide the foundation forrobust HSF programs. Affordability is a significant focus area of HEFT; NASA and itspartners must achieve productivity growth to effectively do more without more. REGISTRATION To schedule a meeting, industry representatives should contact Ms. Marguerite Broadwellat Marguerite.Broadwell@nasa.gov. The deadline for registration is Friday, Oct. 29. SECURITY Event attendees will be required to check in at the security at the NASA Headquartersvisitors lobby near the corner of E St. SW and 4th St. SW to obtain a visitor's badge.Attendees will be subject to personal inspection (e.g., passing through a metaldetector), prior to entering the meeting location, per the discretion of the securityoffice.
