Description
Current and prospective Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Midwest contractors are invited to attend one of the three NAVFAC Midwest Safety Symposiums scheduled during the month of November 2010 in the Midwest. The symposiums will include discussions of the new Safety Source Selection Criteria the government will be using when evaluating proposals. They will also cover thoughts on creating and maintaining a safe work environment and ways of improving mishap prevention efforts. In addition, a speaker from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will discuss new enforcement initiatives in the construction industry. There will also be time for a facilitated discussion with attendees. The Safety Symposium dates are: November 3, 2010 Naval Station Great Lakes Milan Banquet Hall 651 Lakehurst Road Waukegan, IL 60085 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. RSVP Required Contact: Bob Walleck 847-688-4919 November 10, 2010 Naval Support Activity Crane Holiday Inn 117 S. We request attendees include a company principal and safety professional. While the overall mishap rates for NAVFAC globally have been much lower than industry averages, over the last year NAVFAC has experienced several tragic fatalities and several significant near-misses in our construction and base operating support contracts community. We believe that collectively, we can improve safety awareness and improve our safety performance. Questions regarding the Safety Symposium Series can be directed to the point of contact for each event above.
