- Description
- The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center intends to procure a service for the development of 3 assays that will test for resistance markers in flu samples collected during active surveillance in order to support research for the Naval Health Research Center. The Contractor will take receipt of 300 sample aliquots from the Naval Health Research Center previously identified as infected with flu virus and run those samples against the 3 assays. At the end of the testing, the Contractor will deliver a report to the Naval Health Research Center that will discuss the results of the 300 sample tests. This requirement is being issued on a sole-source basis to Sequenom, Inc. as Sequenom owns the patents on the chemistry used for the detection and characterization of nucleic acid material in this combined PCR-electron spray mass spectrometry MassArray system. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, all quotes received within seven days (small purchase procedures are being used and urgency) after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government for the purpose of determining whether or not to compete the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
