Description
MSC's T-AOE 6 Class vessels have an obsolete auxiliary boiler control system causing maintenance and operational difficulties. The V2M Boilers are 125-psi oil-fired, natural circulation, water tube auxiliary boilers. There are two V2M Boilers per ship that provide service steam for auxiliary use underway and when needed, in port. Both boilers have burner management, combustion control and feedwater control systems creating the current boiler control system (BCS). The ship's service steam load fluctuates with the equipment running, ship's location/season and is dependant mainly on the following systems: house/hotel loads, water heaters, fuel heaters, air ejectors for evaporators, and purifier heaters. When in a low load condition, the existing combustion control equipment is not capable of operating at ideal efficiency and additional equipment must be operated to increase load. Military Sealift Command has decided to replace the existing BCS with a modern Programmable Logic Control (PLC) type boiler control system. This system shall provide reliable control over the entire boiler operating range. This contract will be firm-fixed price. Contractor will perform at various location dependent on ship availability. Contract includes a base and four options. Award is anticipated to be in the middle of December.
