Description
Provide all personnel, materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, supervision, and other items and services necessary to remove the existing trash racks and supply and install 8 new Navigation Lock Intake Trash Racks at the McNary Lock and Dam, Umatilla, OR. The existing 8 navigation lock intake trash racks are damaged and require removal and replacement. The Contractor shall remove the 8 trash racks from the navigation lock intake manifold openings. The navigation lock intake manifold is located approximately 80 feet below the water surface when normal pool is present and beneath the Bascule Bridge. Upon removal of the trash racks, the Contractor shall saw-cut flush the 4 (1-inch diameter) anchor bolts supporting each of the 8 trash racks (32 bolts total). The existing trash racks are identical in size (13.42 ft x 16.67 ft), weigh approximately 4.75 tons each and composed of fabricated steel with a hot-dipped galvanized protective coating. After removing the existing trash racks from the navigation lock, the Contractor shall install 4 (1-inch diameter) stainless steel undercut anchor bolts at each of the 8 intake manifold opening locations. The Contractor shall subsequently mount the 8 replacement trash racks to the intake manifold openings. The Contractor shall fabricate from steel the replacement trash racks in accordance with the Government Plans and Specifications. The Government will provide to the Contractor the replacement trash rack design to the Contractor. The replacement trash racks are identical in size (13 ft x 16.5 ft) and weigh approximately 5.5 tons each. The Contractor will apply vinyl paint to protect the trash racks from corrosion. This Contract requires dive work in water depths between 70-90 feet for the trash rack removal, removal of the existing trash rack anchor bolts, installation of the replacement trash rack anchor bolts and installation of the 8 replacement trash racks. The Contractor will be required to submit welder qualification records and weld procedure specifications to the Government for review and approval. The completed weld connections shall be in compliance with AWS D1.1 for statically loaded non-tubular connections. The Contractor shall be responsible for providing the equipment necessary to remove the existing trash racks and install the replacement trash racks.
