Description
RECOVERY: Immediate goal is to prevent short-term gaps in the supply of sufficient materials to treat patients on NCI supported clinical studies. Long term goal is to develop sufficient efficiencies in production and evaluation of new candidate drugs to make the process more sustainable in supplying patients in clinical studies. This stimulus initiative focuses upon two cornerstones of systemic anticancer treatment: natural products and synthetic compounds. Solicitation Number: HHSN261200422002C Procurement Type: Cost Reimbursement Title: RECOVERY: Xenograft Screening of New Therapeutic Molecules Award Date: 08/10/2010 Award Amount: $7,000,000 Contractor: IIT Research Institute This action was a competitive procurement, utilizing a cost reimbursement type contract mechanism. The nature of the project requirements described in the Statement of Work (SOW) do not contain precise specifications to warrant a fixed-price mechanism. Further, difficulty in estimating costs with accuracy does not lend this requirement to a fixed-price mechanism. Therefore, a cost reimbursement type contract is appropriate for this acquisition. Sufficient safeguards will be included in the contract to ensure that costs are allowable, allocable, fair, and reasonable.
