- The Naval Postgraduate School has been using IDL/ENVI software since 1987. Its unique elements including interactive and programmable manipulation of data mandate it's continued use. In addition, no other product offers the diversity of capabilities in application areas and the programmability of IDL. In terms of ongoing support, no other vendor can support the existing software base, since the software is proprietary.
