Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is soliciting HUBZone contractors to install steel sheet piling along 85 feet of riverbank to provide protection to the manhole and portion of the sewer line closest to the slope. The project location is in the town of Agawam, Massachusetts. The erosion site is located along the right bank of the Westfield River in the vicinity of Main Street. The sheeting will have a top elevation of 74.5 National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) and a bottom elevation of 44.5 feet NGVD. Sheeting will be driven by a vibratory hammer to a level approximately 7 feet above the 100-year flood elevation of 60.8 feet NGVD to protect the sewer line. Construction equipment will avoid impacting six large white ash (Fraxinus americana) trees located at the top of the bank. Once the sheeting is installed, the affected area will be top soiled and seeded and a biodegradable turf reinforcement membrane will be placed on the seeded final surface and staked into the ground, to protect against surface erosion while the vegetation becomes established. Fencing at the top of the slope will be installed for safety. This solicitation will be available on or about 27 July 2010 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov). In order to view this solicitation, prospective contractors are required to self register their firm with Federal Business Opportunities (Go to http://www.fbo.gov and register now under Vendor/Citizens). Amendments, if any, to this solicitation will be made available at the https://www.fbo.gov Internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is set aside for HUBZone firms. The applicable NAICS code is 237990 with a Small Business Size Standard of $33,500,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered by the New England District.
