Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) intends to negotiate a sole source commercial item procurement with MCV Hospitality House in Richmond Virginia. VAMC Richmond requires the following: Lodging services are required for the transplant patients for all transplant pre and post appointments at the Richmond VA Transplant Center. An extended period of lodging is also required as the patient ™s transplant status requires their location to be within a 6 hour driving radius or if Air Ambulance service is not available. This extended period of lodging has to be available to our non continental US transplant candidates. Lodging for the newly discharged transplant patient and their caregiver until patient is medically stable to be discharged home. Lodging provider must comply will all related regulations and VHA Directives including 2003-009 TEMPORARY LODGING AND HOPTEL PROGRAMS and ORGAN TRANSPLANT V HA Directive 2001-027. Lodging must meet the unique medical needs of the transplant patient. Rooms to be equipped with special lodging needs the transplant patient may have; such as medical beds, sleep chairs, separate kitchen and storage facilities with key coded locked for each individual. Both pre and post operative control of infection is a critical element for this type of patient ™s weakening medical condition. Having a control environment addressing their needs is essential to ensuring the success of the transplant or help to prevent the rejection of the transplanted organ. The close proximity to the VA Medical Center and Transplant Surgical Hospital is required post transplant due to frequent follow-up and monitoring until the patient is stable enough to return home within a couple of month. This proposed procurement is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than Noon, 9/29/2010, local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Please direct all inquires to Caroline Peabody via email at caroline.peabody@va.gov.
