- Description
- The Aeronautical Systems Center, Special Operations Directorate, Battlefield Airmen Branch, intends to award a sole source order to Cobham Mission Systems Division, Orchard Park, NY for the purpose of providing four, two day specialized training sessions with no more than 8 trainees per course. The training for this follow-on effort is to operate the PHANTOM mask with new and legacy oxygen equipment. It will also focus on mask operation and maintenance including use of the test stand. The training courses being procured are for the same equipment procured by Air Combat Command (ACC) as well as Battlefield Airmen Management System (BAMS). The relatively small scope of the requirement regarding this system makes it unlikely that the government could recover development or patent costs by competing this requirement amongst multiple sources. The PHANTOM mask has already been tested and qualified for the Guardian Angel by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Divsion. The training courses will allow the use and maintain critical mission equipment in the field to conduct specialized rescue efforts within the continental United States and deployed locations throught the world.
