Description
RECOVERY ACTION. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. DUNS 175252894. This action is awarded under Modification no. 147 that recognizes Work Authorization No. LANL10-FE-102-002-FY10 (LASO # RA-10-035) and is issued under Management & Operating (M&O) Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: $2,000,000 is provided to develop laboratory and computational tools to understand the impact of carbon dioxide-induced mechanical stress by creating a geomechanical test bed using inputs from laboratory experiments, field data, and conceptual approaches. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA* (added to description in FedBizOpps): Los Alamos National Security (LANS) was selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) to participate in this American Recovery and Re-investment Act (ARRA) work as part of a Laboratory-University Collaboration due to LANL's expertise in the subject matter. The proposed Fossil Energy work scope described above would be allowed under Section J, Appendix B., "Statement of Work", Section 3.4, entitled "Energy Supply" of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: "The Contractor shall conduct research that addresses energy supply issues by applying capabilities in the areas of exploration, reservoir modeling, integrated assessments, and environmental transport. The Contractor shall support DOE/NNSA's efforts in the broad areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil energy, and nuclear energy." This is a Cost-Reimbursable type contract.
