Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Library of Medicine (NLM)intends to procure RFID Pilot Project to include the following: Intermec CK3 and Accessories; IP30 RFID Reader Attachment and Accessories for CK3; Bluetooth Barcode Scanner; RFID Antenna and Hardware Per Exit (Includes Installation Labor); RFID Middleware; Onsite Labor for RFID System Installation Configuration and Fine Tuning; TRAK 1 and TRAK 1 Software Enhancements and Customizations from New Year Tech, Inc. 12330 Pincreast Road, Reston, VA 20191. The inventory of computer servers is limited by the accessibility of the NIH decal barcodes. RFID tags would allow for proximity scanning which would eliminate the need to move, unplug, or disrupt any device activity in order to capture the inventory data. This process significantly reduces time and resources involved in completing the inventory process. Additionally, this would enhance the Data Center's security because less people would need access to the Data Center's secure area. RFID tags would also enhance the management and tracking of mobile devices entering and exiting NLM facilities by notifying the property office when the asset physically entered or exited an NLM facility. The utilization of RFID will help account for these items and differentiate these items from those that are actually lost or missing. The RFID component is an add on service to the current service. This action is under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(1), as set forth on FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306-302-1. Only one responsible source and no other will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received with the 5 days after the publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
