- Description
- The flood control project is located on the north embankment of the Sebewaing River. The work will consist of clearing and grubbing the area and removing large trees from the project footprint. The embankment will be graded to a 2 ft horizontal by 1 ft vertical slope (2H:1V). Gravel fill will be used from the channel bottom and extend to 2 ft above low water datum. Clay fill we be used above the gravel fill to create an impenetrable layer between the river and the embankment. A small clay levee will be constructed on top of the embankment to provide flood control protection. Geotextile fabric and aggregate will be placed over the gravel and clay embankment. The final layer of protection will consist of Armorflex articulating concrete block mats or similar. The sheets of concrete blocks will be placed over aggregate and keyed in at the toe and below the clay levee. The voids in the concrete blocks will be filled with soil and hydroseeded. The area of impact is approximately 92,000 square feet.
