- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Battle Creek VA Medical Center 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, Michigan, 49037 anticipates soliciting bids and consequently awarding a contract for the construction project known as "Upgrade Fire Alarm System." The solicitation will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 14 (SEALED BIDDING) and Part 36 (CONSTRUCTION) and will be evaluated in accordance with the procedures therein. The solicitation will be advertised as a Total Set-Aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, supplies, travel, etc. to perform all work under this project which consists of: Furnish all necessary labor, tools, miscellaneous materials, equipment, and supervision as specified in drawings and specifications to complete the Upgrade Fire Alarm System Project (Project Number 515-08-103) at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center, Battle Creek, Michigan. Upgrades include new smoke detectors at every fire alarm control panel, installation of new fiber optic cable with associated fiber optic modules for network communications, new operators work station with complete graphics package, new battery backup with new charger for all fire alarm control panels, installation of current edition software and firmware for all fire alarm control panels, correction of network wiring, disabling of remote reset capability, operator training, and testing/modification of existing custom device labels. All existing fire alarm control panels are Siemens MXL panels. All new equipment and cable shall be UL listed and compatible with existing panels. New site wiring included in this project for full and complete peer to peer communication of all aspects of each system among all connected systems. The work includes all associated aspects, including but not limited to power supply, cutting and patching, and repair of finishes. The period of performance is 120 calendar days for the entire project. Magnitude of construction is expected to be between $500,000 and $1,000,000. NAICS Code for this acquisition is 238210 Electrical Contractors and other Wiring Installation Contractors. The solicitation documents including specifications and drawings will be issued on or about 7-9-2010 and will be posted on Federal Business Opportunities. This date is subject to change. Hard copy documents including drawings will not be available - all documents for bidding purposes will be posted at this website for download. Site visit information will be provided upon issuance of solicitation. Only one site visit is planned. Bids will be due 30 days after issuance of solicitation. This notice is for informational purposes only and is not a request for submission of offers. The Government is not obligated to issue a solicitation as a result of this notice. No other information is available until issuance of the solicitation. No bidder list is maintained.
