Description
The Wilmington VA Medical Center is in need of a gynecologist for one day per month of clinical service time in the Women's clinic at the Wilmington Delaware Medical Center located at 1601 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington DE 19805 for the base year starting October 1, 2010 and ending September 30, 2011 with three (3) option years to be negotiated. STATEMENT OF WORK The Women's Health Clinic at the Wilmington VAMC requires the services of a licensed gynecologist/obstretrician to provide evaluation and treatment of gynecological abnormalities and maternity care to our female patients. The following needs have been identified. OFFICE BASED. Abnormal pap test evaluation and treatment: colposcopy/LEEP. Problems related to menstuation. Contraception including IUD placement. Initial infertility evaluation. Evaluation and treatment of common gynecological conditions such as: pelvic pain/fibroids/ovarian cysts/diseases of the vulva. Sexually transmitted infections/Vulvovaginitis. Menopause. Osteoporosis. Evaluation of sexual dysfunction. Evaluation of pelvic floor abnormalities SURGIES: Done at the Wilmington VAMC - currently only minor and outpatient procedures are being done in house; or local hospital (fee basis) where gynecologist/obstetrician has admitting privileges for needed gynecological surgery and maternity services. Tubal ligation - in house. Others - (Based on physician's credentialing scope of practice and Wilmington VAMC surgical complexity - intermediate facility approved procedures. Unlisted surgical services may be needed on a case by case basis. The majority of requests will be for surgery; some consultations/office based services will also be needed since gynecologist/obstetrician has limited office visit time at the Wilmington VAMC. REQUIREMENTS:. The Contractor will continue to have one morning clinic session per month at the VAMC with slots for 5-6 patients to be seen as needed. If care is needed other than during scheduled clinic time, phone consultation is available. Patients might need to be seen at the gynecologist's/obstetrician's office (fee basis) for care that cannot wait until scheduled once a month clinic. All maternity patients are seen in gynecologist/obstetrician's office under fee basis (contract).. Each Physician providing the above services to our patients will be:. Duly licensed,. Board-certified (or eligible). The physicians must comply with all VA regulations pertaining to documentation, maintenance and completion of medical records.. When prescribing medications for our veteran patients the physicians should use those on the VA pharmacy formulary. Upon request, the Wilmington VAMC can provide a copy of the current Pharmacy formulary listing.. The Contractor will maintain their own medical malpractice coverage and will supply proof thereof. QUALITY REVIEW:. To ensure that we have a complete medical history for our veteran patients, the contractor will forward a copy of any patient care received outside the VAMC (contractors' office or local hospital for surgery) to the VAMC Women's Health Clinic. These records are to be scanned into the patient's electronic record. This contract is subject to performance review monitoring to assess documentation, quality, utilization and appropriateness of care. Patient records will be reviewed for correct documentation and signatures. Failure to comply may result in delay of payment for services, until patient records are complete.
