- The U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC), Human Nutrition Research Center (BHNRC) intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price acquisition to Thermo Electron North America, LLC. BHNRC requires the Orbitrap mass spectrometer due to its capability of providing a combination of high resolution; >100,000 at higher masses or lower scan rate and fragmenting molecules up to 10 times (MS10). The statutory requirement for other than full and open competition is 41 USC 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1-only one responsible source. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. Estimated date of award is on or about September 17, 2010. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTES. However, if any other interested party believes that its business is capable of providing the above mentioned requirement please submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact with seven (7) days after publication of this notice. This notice is for informational purposes only. A determination by the Government not to conduct a competitive procurement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
