Description
Sandia National Laboratories seeks partners for commercializing a proprietary sensor technology which enables temperature measurements of a network of small sensors via a single transmitter/receiver hub. The sensors require no power source, but rather encode the temperature or other measurement in the reflected radio frequency signal. This technology may enable considerable cost savings for installation and maintenance of distributed temperature sensing networks for building HVAC controls and industrial process monitoring and controls, or provide temperature surety for hospitals and data centers. The technology may also be useful for local temperature measurements on aircraft or automobiles during prototype testing. The sensors may also be suitable for modification to detect strain or the presence of volatile chemicals for safety applications. It is anticipated that commercial licenses may, on a competitive basis, grant exclusive rights in pre-negotiated, defined fields of use for reasonable consideration to qualified interested parties. Partnerships to commercialize this technology may also take the form of Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) or nonexclusive commercial licenses. Sandia is a multiprogram laboratory managed and operated by Sandia Corporation, a Lockheed Martin Company, for the United States Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000. For further information, contact Dan Allen at Sandia National Laboratories by email, dgallen@sandia.gov, phone, 505-284-6752, or FAX, 505-284-2132.
