Description
The U. S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Region Seven (7), Alaska, intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to Microwave Telemetry at 8835 Columbia 100 Parkway Suite K & L, Columbia, Maryland. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Region Seven (7), Alaska requires several PTT 100, 5 gram solar Platform Transmitter Terminal (PTT) and PTT 100, 22 gram solar ARGOS GPS PTTs. Microwave Telemetry is the only manufacturer that makes solar powered, satellite transmitters of such a low weight. Microwave Telemetry also is the sole provider of 22-gram solar ARGOS/GPS PTTs that operate with 2D GPS functionality via the ARGOS satellite array, which is crucial for data collection and continuity. PTT 100, 5 gram solar Platform Transmitter Terminal (PTT). Transmitter mass must be 5 g or less, and incorporate both batteries and solar panels. These transmitters are satellite transmitters, sending data through satellites (managed with a CLS America account), not very-high-frequency (VHF) transmitters that require overflights to determine locations. PTT 100, 22 gram solar ARGOS GPS PTT. These satellite transmitters had 2D GPS functionality operating through the ARGOS satellite array via CLS America. These transmitters are deployed on juvenile short-tailed albatross chicks in Japan. This is an ongoing study and these transmitters have been previously deployed on the same birds. For collection of data and continuity throughout the study, it is important to deploy the same transmitters and collect data via CLS America's ARGOS network. This notice is in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b) and 13.501(a). This notice is not a request for competitive proposals and the Government does not intend to accept proposals received. The anticipated award date is September 17, 2010.
