- The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) in support of the ProgramExecutive Office (PEO) Command, Control, Communications, Computers andIntelligence (C4I) Navy Communications Program Office, Code PMW 120Meteorological Mobile Facility (Replacements) (METMF(R)) NextGeneration (NEXGEN) program intends to award on an other than full and opencompetition basis a contract modification to Smiths Detection, Inc., 2202Lakeside Blvd, Edgewood, MD 21040, under existing contract N00039-06-C-0032, toprovide for nine (9) additional months of engineering support for the two (2)currently fielded prototype METMF(R)s. This sole source modification willallow Smiths Detection to continue to provide systems engineering and softwareintegration support for the testing, integration and fielding of the NEXGENvariant. These services are required for additional engineering supportrequired to resolve Priority 1 and 2 Program Trouble Reports (PTRs) associatedwith the current METMF(R) NEXGEN system in preparation for Initial OperationalTest and Evaluation (IOT&E). The proposed contract action is for services forwhich the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one sourceunder authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1.
