- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Western Ecological Research Center (WERC) Las Vegas, NV, has a requirement for 40 GPS loggers to be deployed on desert tortoises to analize movements. It is necessary to fit tortoises with a small, store-on-board GPS datalogger to be mounted to the scutes of the animal using epoxy. The datalogger must meet the specifications which can be found in the RFQ. The USGS is unaware of any units currently available in the commercial marketplace that would meet these needs. On 31 Aug 2010, the USGS will release competitive Request for Quotations (RFQ) number 10WRQQ0303, in accordance with the procedures of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13, to develop/produce quantity forty (40) units meeting the specifications above. The RFQ will be restriced to Small Businesses under NAICS code 334220, entitled "Radio and Television Broadcasting and Wireless Communications Equipment Manufacturing," corresponding index entry "GPS (global positioning system) equipment manufacturing." Complete technical specifications and source selection criteria will be released with the RFQ.
