- NASA/ Kennedy Space Center (KSC) plans to issue a Sole Source Request for Quotation(RFQ) with Delaware North Park Services, Kennedy Space Center, FL, to sponsor VolusiaCounty Space Week which is an educational event with Volusia County Schools. This programis for Volusia County students and teachers as part of the Agencys focus on increasingstudents interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)curriculum. In order to implement this program, the vendor shall have access to an Education ResourceCenter with the ability to schedule and perform space-based science and physicsworkshops, transportation from Volusia county schools, provide teachers an Educator StudyPass to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for teachers, and access to the KennedySpace Center Visitor Complex for students on the day of the program. Delaware North ParkServices is the only known vendor able to provide these services due to being thecontractor which manages and operates the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested firmsother than the sole source cited shall submit in writing to the identified point ofcontact, their qualifications/capabilities and quotes, providing a description insufficient detail to show that the services offered meets the Government's requirement tothe identified point of contact not later than 7:00 a.m. eastern standard time, September7, 2010 at NASA/Kennedy Space Center, Attn: Donny Wood, OP-OS, Kennedy Space Center FL32899, donald.wood@nasa.gov, or fax to (321) 867-1188. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determiningwhether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by theGovernment not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis,based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible maysubmit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.See NASA Specific Note 'B'.
