Description
General Information Document Type: Presolicitation Notice Solicitation Number: N00421-1300162832 Posted Date: August 26, 2010 Original Response Date: September13, 2010 Archive Date September 18, 2010 NAICS Code 541330 Contracting Office Address Department of the Navy, Naval Air Weapons Center Aircraft Division, 2.5.1.2. Building 442, 21936 Bundy Road, Patuxent River, MD 20670. Description The Naval Air Weapons Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) intends to award a sole source Bridge extension to contract # N00421-06-C-0085 with BAE Systems, 1601 Research Blvd, Rockville MD, 20850 for Life Cycle Support providing uninterrupted operational and maintenance support in the areas of design, development, integration, test and evaluation, installation, fielding, certification, maintenance, and logistic support of communication-electronic (C-E) equipment/systems and subsystems to Special Communication Requirements (SCR) Division for various programs. The current contract type is a Cost plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) contract. The requirement will result in the modification of subject contract providing for an extended period of performance running from 01 January 2011 to 31 December 2011. Without the services provided by this contract, there would be a severe negative effect on SCR's ability to maintain the current wartime operational tempo and development schedules of the various communications systems. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The incumbent contractor (BAE Systems) currently has fully trained personnel and a fully developed management system in place for execution the required work, resolicitation for the twelve month period would not only risk a break in service, but would incur excessive costs to the government. This synopsis is for informational purposes only. Numbered note 22 applies. Point of Contact Frank Douglass, Contract Specialist, Code 2.5.1.2.2.5. Telephone (301) 757-5937, or via e-mail: frank.douglass@navy.mil.
