- Description
- VISN 5 Network Contracting anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price contract for the 4C Patient Ward Expansion, Project No. 688-335. The 4C Patient Ward Renovation & Expansion is a renovation and expansion project involving approximately 22,000 square feet renovation of interior space and 1,500 square feet of new space. The new ward will provide the full range of inpatient care for veterans requiring acute care. 4C will provide a new patient waiting area, private patient rooms each equipped with toilet and shower facilities, family space, conference rooms, support functions and administrative office space to support the ward. Work is located on the 4th Floor of the main building wing 4C. The work shall include necessary removal of existing structures and construction in order to install new work. The work will include alterations, mechanical and electrical work, millwork, asbestos abatement and utility systems. The work is to be completed in two (2) phases as follows: Phase I - 4C Patient Ward Expansion and Phase II - 4A Corridor Finishes. Employee Identification and Security Clearance will be required for all contractor employees. Proper identification (valid citizen and non-citizen ID cards, valid passport or naturalization papers) are necessary to go through the required access for the VA Medical Center. All work is to be completed within 365 calendar days after the notice to proceed is issued. This includes final inspection and clean-up. The applicable North American Industry Classification System Code for this procurement is 236220. To be considered a small business under this code, the SBA size standard is $33.5 million. The construction cost range for the project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The solicitation will be issued on or about June 25, 2010. All information for this solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. The Government will not provide paper copies of the solicitation. Bidders will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation package, drawings, specifications and all subsequent amendments, if any. The solicitation is issued under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 8127. Telephone, written, facsimile, or e-mail requests for the solicitation will not be honored. Potential bidders must register at FedBizOpps at www.fbo.gov in order to receive notifications and/or changes to the solicitation. Potential bidders are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation package and any other pertinent information. The Interested Vendors List (IVL) will be activated and may be accessed and printed from the FedBizOpps website. All interested parties MUST be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database and VetBiz Vendor Information Pages at www.vetbiz.gov as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) firm, and must have completed the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) at https://orca.bpn.gov prior to contract award. The pre-bid meeting for this project will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. All interested parties shall promptly report to the Facilities Management Conference Room BH-132 for the meeting. All requests for information regarding this project shall be submitted in writing to the Contracting Officer no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010. Telephone requests will not be accepted. The bid opening will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
