SOURCES SOUGHT: The 35th Contracting Squadron at Misawa AB, Japan is seeking anyone interested in providing Lactation Consultant/Nurse or Breastfeeding Education Nurse services for the base hospital under a Firm-Fixed Price type of contract. Please note that at this time this is merely a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI), not a formal solicitation, request for proposal, or offer of any kind. Responding to this notice does NOT commit the government to issuing a solicitation or awarding a contract for any of the work described in this notice. DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK: The government is seeking sources able and interested in providing comprehensive lactation assessment on mothers and their infants within a hospital setting in accordance with the policy and guidelines of the Maternal Newborn Unit Operating Instructions for postpartum and newborn nursery care required for eligible beneficiaries. The general scope of work under this requirement includes: - Providing direct and indirect patient care for breastfeeding couples (mothers and babies) in support of medical care and in accordance with established standards of care, as well as policies and procedures of the 35 MDG. - Collaborating with the nursing staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care activities for the breastfeeding couple. - Collaborating with nursing staff, physicians, other departments, and facilities for the care and benefit of the breastfeeding couple. - Promoting breastfeeding beyond the first few weeks of life and assisting the breastfeeding couple to reach their own goals for breastfeeding. - Serving as a resource for breastfeeding couples, nursing staff, physicians, other departments or disciplines, and facilities on issues related to lactation. - Facilitating follow-up services for breastfeeding couples after discharge for as long as the breastfeeding relationship continues. ADDITIONAL NOTES: A proposed Performance Work Statement (PWS) is available and has been provided with this notice for your review. All industry comments and notices of interest are encouraged and welcomed to assist us with this requirement. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this requirement is 621399 "Offices of All Other Miscellaneous Health Practitioners" the size standard of which is $7.0 millions of dollars in annual receipts (Not to Exceed). Depending on the responses received and level of interest generated, this requirement may potentially be a set-aside or restricted to local contractors only.
