- Recovery Action - This modification is issued to obligate American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009 funds to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for the purpose of a Supplement entitled "Advanced Simulation of Subsurface Flow and Transport at the Pore Scale" to existing SciDAC project "Applied Partial Differential Equations Center for Enabling Technologies (APDEC)" to support collaborative research with Basic Energy Sciences (BES)-supported Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs) to develop a high-performance computing capability relevant to the goals of the EFRC. The contract was awarded competitively. The contract is a cost reimbursement contract because of the uncertainties of the research mission of the laboratory makes it impossible to estimate with reasonable accuracy the costs of performance making the firm, fixed price contract type inappropriate.
