Description
The Purpose of this Amendment is to further clarify expectations for electrical environment, wiring, and expected loads. Equipment: Generac Generator - QT08046 - Serial Number 5688355 - 3 Phase - 120/208 volts - amps 276 - KW80 - KVA 100 The generator is in place, located on a concrete pad, enclosed on three sides by concrete block. Conduit has been stubbed out under the generator, the main conduit is 4 inch, and a 2 inch conduit is next to the 4 inch line. The generator is fueled by propane, in which Badlands National Park is responsible for hooking up and testing to ensure proper operating pressures. A 4 inch plastic conduit line will need to be tied into the stub out, located on the north side of the concrete block wall, and trenched in to NEC code depths and run to the southwest side of Ben Reifel Visitor Center. Distance from the generator to the commercial power transformer is 210 feet. The load rate of Ben Reifel Visitor Center is 62 KW at peak load; the main service panel is a Cutler-Hammer Pow-r-line C, PRL 4C Panel Board, volts 208Y/120V, Date 12/04, Box Cat. BX3673, Panel Amps 800, Phase 3 Wire 4, Neutral Amps 800, Neutral volts 120, Box type 1. Automatic switch gear should be sized for the main service panel. Wire from the generator to the 800 amp automatic switch gear model GTS designed for the Generac generator, should be sized for the load at Ben Reifel Visitor Center, the wire will be inside of 4 inch PVC conduit. The switch gear will be located next to the building by the commercial power transformer on a concrete pad; the concrete pad will need to be poured. Switch gear should be rated for outside weather conditions. The switch gear will need to break the commercial power; the meter is located on the southwest wall by the transformer located on the southwest corner of Ben Reifel Visitor Center. This is the location of commercial power to the visitor center. From the switch gear the appropriate sized wire will need to run into the Cutler-Hammer 800 amp panel. The 800 amp GTS switch gear is sized for the 800 amp Cutler-Hammer main service panel, even though the Generac generator is producing the 276 amps load and the load in the visitor center is 62 KW. The 800 Amp service panel in the visitor center was sized for future expansion of an addition to the building. Contractors should select appropriate wire sizes using industry NEC standards to support expected Generac generator Amp loads. This Solicitation will now close on Friday, August 27, 2010.
