Description
Sheaves and Bearings: The sheave construction shall be a two piece welded fabrication consisting of a roll forged rim welded to a concentric hub. The sheave rim shall be constructed of AISI C-1045 carbon steel. The hub shall be constructed of AISI C-1018/1026 carbon steel tubing. The wire rope groove configuration is to comply with the requirements of API 8A, and shall be smooth and free from conditions, which could cause rope damage. The groove tread (140 degree contact arc) shall be flame hardened to a surface hardness of Rc 50 minimum, for a depth of.060 minimum. The Sheave shall rotate on a double row, double cup, tapered roller bearing with slotted and extended cones conforming to Federal Specification FF-B-187, and shall be compatible with sheave loading and operating conditions. The sheave assembly shall be fitted with lip type elastomeric seals. The sheave shall be designed to operate on shafts machined to +/-.0005 of the indicated shaft dimension. The sheave shall be designed for radial design load of 228 kips, and shall withstand the breaking force of 1.50 XIP IWRC 6 x 37 wire rope without ultimate sheave failure. All exposed surfaces (excluding bearing, seal) shall be coated with inorganic zinc primer (Dimetcote or Carbozinc 11). Quality Control Plan: After award, the contractor will provide a quality control plan that states the manufacturers procedures for monitoring and controlling the manufacturing process and testing procedures to insure final product acceptability. The Contractor will provide material certification and testing reports upon completion of the work.
