Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for the following requirement for U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service, prepared in accordance with the formate in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. USDA, ARS intends to procure the following items or equivalent from the manufacturer and vendor: GT Vision located at 10205 Easterday Court, Hagerstown, MD 21742 at phone number 240-235-4118. Line Item 1: EntoVision (EV) Premium Lab Imaging System, Quantity of 1 each; Line Item 2: Installation and Training, Quantity of 1 job. The minimum requirements for the two Line Items or equivalent is as follow: Line Item 1: The system needs to be capable of capturing images from 1 millimeter to 2.5 centimeters, using 1) a 3-CCD, ultra-high resolution digital camera, 2) a modified zoom lens mounted to the camera and motorized focus control stand, and 3) a PC with software for controlling not only the camera and motorized focus operation, but also capable of collapsing a series of separate focal planes automatically obtained from the camera into a composite, fully focused image. The camera stage must allow fluid yet incremental movement of specimens in all directions, including rotation. A uniquely designed, domed light source must provide precise, consistent and intense, yet diffuse lighting at all magnifications. The zoom lens must allow a wide range of magnifications and must be apochromatically corrected, to produce true color reproduction. A motorized, focus-control, microscope stand is necessary to acquire each focal plane precisely and automatically, using capture software that uniquely coordinates operations between the camera and the motorized focus control. Line Item 2: Extended training on how to use the integrated camera and associated equipment, complex lighting systems, and computer software is required. All quotes shall be emailed to: John.Wilkinson@ars.usda.gov ; no later than August 29, 2010. All responses shall be evaluated in order to determine the ability to meet the above stated capabilities. The Government intends to award an order resulting from this combined synopsis/solicitation to the responsive/responsible offeror. The anticipated award date is August 30, 2010.
