Description
(Sol# 40181AQ375) This requirement is being procured in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and an award will be made in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This procurement is for hand-planting of Longleaf Pine Tublings and Wiregrass Plugs at the Lower Suwannee National Widlife Refuge in Florida. The Government will supply the seedlings. Once in the website, anyone can either log in with their DUNs/MPIN number or enter the document number (40181AQ375). NAICS Code: 115310, Size Standard: $7 million. This work entails hand tree planting of longleaf pine and wiregrass. The Government will supply the seedlings. This planting project is comprised of 84 acres (over 8 sub-compartments) located at the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge in Levy and Dixie Counties, Florida. Planting may commence based on seedling availability as early as November 1, 2011 and completed by March 15, 2012. The planting sites range from 7 acre heavily thinned timber harvest areas to acre log loading areas. These sites have not had any site preparation work. The planting density for the containerized longleaf pine will be 690 trees per acre on an approximate 8' by 8'spacing over 84 acres (58,000 trees). Out of the 84 acres there will be 10.3 acres planted with containerized wiregrass plugs (26,000 trees). The planting density for the containerized wiregrass plugs will be 2,525 stems per acre and planted on an approximate 4' by 4'spacing and interspaced in the same area as the containerized longleaf. The planting pattern shall be approved by the Refuge Forester and shall be designed to mimic a natural stand of pine. The planting areas will have no mechanical site preparation; therefore, hand planting may be complicated by logging debris on old logging decks.
