- Description
- The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU), located on the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) in Bethesda, MD, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Alban Tractor Company, Inc., for preventive maintenance and start-ups on three (3) emergency generators. The awarded contract will be an option year order with a base period of one (1) year and four (4) option years. The contract will authorize the end-user preventive maintenance and monthly start-up services for the emergency generators. This order is being procured in accordance with FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures). Sole source determination is made in accordance with: FAR Part 13.106-1 Soliciting Competition (b) Soliciting from a single source (1) For purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, contracting officers may solicit from one source if the contracting officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available. Alban Tractor Company, Inc., is the sole Maryland provider for the preventive maintenance and start-ups on Caterpillar Emergency Generators. Maintenance on this system is required by the university faculty and students. This is not a request for quotes and a solicitation package will not be issued. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can provide the above-mentioned requirement as specified. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contractual action based upon responses received is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses must be received via email ( melissa.marcellus@usuhs.mil ) by noon (12:00pm) on 23 August 2010.
