Description
Replenish the Midwest Flood Fight Centers stock of sandbags and shipping containers in support of flood fighting efforts. Sandbags and shipping containers must meet specifications listed in solicitation W912EK-10-T-0131. Sandbags: should be manufactured predominantly of polypropylene, shall be of the woven bag type, shall be in accordance with Mil-B-52472C, Type I, Method B, color of the sand bags shall be white. Estimated Number of Sandbags: 1,500,000 with options for additional quantities. Shipping Containers: Sandbags shall be box in accordance with ASTM D 6256/D 6256M, Type I, Class 1 Plywood Base (Full Panel), Style A instead of under PACKAGING in MIL-B-52472C. The shipping containers shall be constructed with the nominal dimensions of 8 feet in length, 4 feet in width, and 4 feet in height (must fit in the bed of a full-sized pickup truck). A shipping container shall contain as many bundles as feasibly possible, while filling it full and still preserving the structural integrity of the container itself. A bundle shall contain 1,000 bags, stacked flat-wise. A bundle shall be so constructed that it will allow subsequent handling. Each shipping container shall be completely filled, except for the extra shipping containers purchased without sandbags. Shipping containers shall have the skids attached in a manner that shall allow a fork lift to lift them from either side of the shipping container. Estimated Number of shipping containers: enough to ship the estimated quantity of 1,500,000 sand bags plus the options for additional quantities. Estimated Number of extra empty shipping containers: 25, with options for additional quantities. NAICS Code: 314911 Size Standard: 500 employees Delivery: USACE-Rock Island District on the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois 61204, or the Mississippi River Project Office, 25549 182nd Street, Pleasant Valley, Iowa 52767. It is anticipated the solicitation containing the specifications for this procurement will be available on www.fbo.gov on or about 16 August 2010. Any contractor wanting the solicitation containing the specifications must download them from this website.
