Description
Sole Source Synopsis Reference: CDC-88583 Taeniasis This is a notice of intent to sole source. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); 2920 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, GA 30341; in accordance with FAR Part 13.106(b) and 41 USC 253 (c) (1) intents to solicit a single source for the Procurement of research surrounding the burden and epidemiology of Taeniasis in a specified public health jurisdiction identified by CDC. The CDC intent is to sole source the following requirement to the Greater Los Angeles Epilepsy Foundation. The North American Industry Classification System code is 813212, 500 people. The purpose of this procurement is to better define the burden and epidemiology of Teaniasis in Los Angeles County. A pilot surveillance study was conducted in the identified region between 1988-1990 and this procurement aims to update the previous analysis of national cysticerosis mortality. This procurement aims to 1. Investigate cases of neurocysicerosis in LA County 2. Determine the overall frequency of tapeworm carriers among contacts to cysticerosis cases in LA County and 3. Update the previous analysis of national cysicerosis mortality using multiple causes of death files for 2003-2006. The utilization of the same population (immigrants from Latin America where the disease is endemic) located within the same region will provide for consistency regarding this study and permit this update to take place. Additionally, this vendor is the only known vendor with immediate/established access to this particular population within this region. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contract Specialist on or before 1:00 pm EST on August 19, 2010. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. All questions must be in writing and must be emailed to Candice L. Simmons at iie3@cdc.gov. Please reference CDC-88583 Taeniasis on all correspondence. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the CDC will proceed to sole source this requirement to the Greater Los Angeles Epilepsy Foundation.
