- The Oxbow Excavation and Embankment in Okeechobee and Highlands Counties, Florida is part of the Kissimmee River Restoration Project (KRR). The work includes the following: plug each end of an existing oxbow to block flow to C-38 canal, excavate approximately 3,475 linear feet of oxbow to reconnect the historic river alignment, place spoil in the existing blocked oxbow to bank elevations, and construct embankment along the C-38 canal from the CSX railroad grade to a point approximately 4,335 linear feet southward. The oxbow shall be constructed to a bottom elevation of 15.0 feet (NVGD), bottom width of 50 feet, and 1 vertical on 3 horizontal side slopes. The embankment shall be constructed to a crest elevation of 33.0 feet (NGVD), crest width of 14 feet and 1 vertical on 3 horizontal sides slopes. Place approximately 100 linear feet of revetment centered around the south end of the embankment. Place approximately 625 linear feet of revetment along the C-38 side of the embankment where it crossed the plugged oxbow. Work includes turbidity monitoring. Magnitude of construction is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. THIS PROCUREMENT IS A HUBZONE SET-ASIDE. The solicitation will be issued on or about 2 August 2010 with bids due on or about 01 September 2010.
