Description
The Division of Database Systems (DDBS) has identified a need for a DB2 performance analysis tool to be used for tuning and debugging Structured Query Language (SQL) accessing SSA's data stored in IBM's DB2 database managements system running in SSA's mainframe production environment. This tool will augment SSA's existing DB2 performance analysis tools by associating specific DB2 data stores with the system resources they consume to satisfy and given SQL statement. Identifying the specific data store/resource combinations will significantly aid in analyzing and improving the performance of complex SQL statements. SOFTWARE FUNCTIONALITY The Software shall provide the following capabilities: Operate on the z/OS 1.11 operating system and have a migration plan for support of future versions Operate in a DB2 z/OS Data-Sharing environment running DB2 Version 9 and have a migration plan for support of future versions Be compatible with Computer Associates (CA) Top Secret Enterprise Security for z/OS Version 12.0 and Top Secret for DB2 Version 1.2 and have a migration plan for support of future versions of all products Operate seamlessly with Computer Associates (CA) Detector and have a migration plan for support of future versions of the product Allow SSA to specify the target database or object to monitor Allow SSA to measure performance information, such as the number of physical input/outputs and buffer pool reads, broken down for each index and/or table involved in any monitored SQL statement Allow SSA to measure performance information, such as the number of physical input/outputs and buffer pool reads, broken down for each index and table on the DB2 subsystem to monitor Be a mature solution that has been in use for at least 3 years and currently used by more than five customers. REPORTING CAPABILITIES The Software must have static reporting functions for the following metrics: DB2 real-time or historical object activity at the database, tablespace, and table levels DB2 index usage and non-usage DB2 buffer pool hit ratio DASD performance statistics as they relate to DB2 I/O activity DB2 failures that require DBA attention DB2 lock and other general subsystem statistics collected during a target interval SCALABILITY REQUIREMENTS The Software must have the ability to operate in a target environment that includes: DB2 V.9/ Data Sharing CA TopSecret/Top Secret for DB2 SysPlex Distributor CICS WebSphere WebsphereMQ Alteon Internet Protocol (IP) DataPower appliances Web Services Security Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Logical Unit (LU) 6.2 zSeries Operating System (z/OS) platform CyberFusion Integration Suite (CFI) Vendor Responses Vendors that believe they can offer a technically compliant product are invited to submit information concerning their product's capabilities. Detailed responses to each of the above requirements (with substantiating documentation) are required. The vendor response must provide detailed accounts of how each of the requirements is met. Simple marketing information or incomplete responses will not be considered. Reference to vendor web sites is not considered a valid response. Respondents should indicate whether their software is available on GSA Federal Supply Schedules or any other Government-wide Agency Contract (GWAC). You may submit product cost and/or pricing data, inclusive of annual maintenance, with your response, however it is not required. Respondents should refer to SSA-RFI-10-0806. Electronic responses only must be submitted by August 16, 2010. Faxed information will not be permitted. The size limitation for email attachments is 10 megabytes. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION IS BEING ISSUED AT THIS TIME, and the Government does not intend to pay for the information submitted. This information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable sources. Respondents will not be notified of any evaluated results from the data received. Any questions should be submitted via EMAIL ONLY (no phone calls please) to the Contract Specialist at Rick.Bolt@ssa.gov
