- ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit sources and pricing under the authority of FAR 13.500 for Qty-3, 1 MHz AWACs. Vendor selected is NortekUSA, LLC. 222 SEVERN AVENUE, ANNAPOLIS, MD 21403. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures --- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to acquire commercial items using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than Wednesday, 11 August 2010 COB, CDST. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Interested parties may submit quotes for consideration by the Government to joshua.r.marks@usace.army.mil Please use solicitation number referenced in the subject line. The Nortek AWAC systems are required for this project because of instrument capabilities, including: The Nortek 1MHz AWAC Profiler is the only instrument that has a vertical narrow-beam transducer for measurement of surface displacement directly over the instrument. This provides a more accurate determination of wave height over traditional gauges that rely on hydrodynamic correction of sub-surface pressure or current. It is the sensor that is configured to use a vertical beam to maximize the accuracy of wave surface measurements. The AWAC Profiler comes standard with a fast-response piezoresistive pressure sensor, temperature sensor, tilt sensor and compass- necessary for accurate measurements of directional waves and currents. And AWAC systems will easily intergrate with our existing equipment.
