- J&A SpringActive Soldier Power Regeneration Kit (SPaRK) Project Phase II. The Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering professor, LTC Joseph Hitt, in collaboration with SpringActive Inc, will design, build, test, and demonstrate a prototype combat boot add-on device that captures biomechanical energy during walking gait to store as electric energy. The Phase II project is a continuation of the Phase I effort where SpringActive successfully developed a proof-of-concept device under contract number W911SD-09-P-0410. This effort leverages the research and development work that resulted from Phase I of this project that resulted in a patent-pending Intellectual Property.
