Description
NASA/JSC plans to issue a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Innovative LunarDesign Demonstrations (ILDD). This announcement is intended to express NASAs interestin proving, testing, and verifying specific capabilities that will be useful for theeventual landing of a human vehicle through the utilization of small robotic landers.NASAs intent is to obtain data and gather knowledge that reduces risks for future humanand robotic lander designs by employing these missions as unique demonstration testbeds. The ILDD procurement will allow NASAs Lunar Lander Project Office to increase itsknowledge and understanding of the design, testing, and flight lessons to be learnedthrough the use of these landers. Additionally, this information will enable the LunarLander Project Office to quickly and efficiently implement a plan for building andtesting relevant components of lander hardware to be utilized in future human and roboticlanders. Lunar mission scenarios producing data of interest to NASA may includeperforming lunar landing using a human mission profile, identification of hazards duringlanding, precision landing, and extended duration operations. Multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) fixed priced contract awards areanticipated. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
