- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Office of Acquisitions (OA), for the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Miltenyi Biotec, Inc.,2303 Lindberg Street, Auburn CA, 95602 to purchase an autoMACS Pro Separator.. The total estimated amount of this contract is NOT expected to exceed the simplified acquisition threshold of $100,000.00. The Miltenyi AutoMACS Pro is a unique automated cell separation unit. Currently, many NIAMS labs utilize the Miltenyi AutoMACS. The AutoMacs is no longer in production however, the AutoMACS Pro is the replacement unit. The anitbodies for both units are th esame and are currently being used by the NIAMS labs. Additionally the protocols and experiements have been optimized for the AutoMACS and AutoMACS Pro units. The following products are being acquired through this order: 1. autoMACS Pro Angle Connector Set 2. autoMACS Pro Starting Kit 3. auotoMACS Pro Laminar Hood Plate The sole source determination is based upon the fact Miltenyi Biotec, Inc is the manufacturer and sole source vendor of these autoMACS Pro units.. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 325413, and Size Standard 500 Employees is applicable to this requirement. This is a Total Small Business Set Aside. The reference number for this notice is NHLBI-PB-(AR)-2010-277-AMB. The resultant acquisition will be conducted in accordance with FAR Part 13, simplified acquisition procedures and the resultant purchase order will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through the Federal Acquisition Circular 05-44. The notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PB-(AR)-2010-277-AMB, may be submitted to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Office of Acquisition Center, Procurement Branch. Responses must be submitted in writing to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute 6701 Rockledge Blvd., Room Suite 6100, Bethesda, Maryland 20892, Attention: Aaron Blackshire.
