- Description
- The National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, is soliciting proposals for a conservator to conserve six paintings for Gateway National Recreation Area, Floyd Bennett Ryan Visitor Center. The paintings appear to be oil paint on fine weave canvas adhered to a wooden framed board. One painting remains in this state. The other five were at some point, forcefully removed from their panels. The paintings have suffered loss of paint and varnish and, in two of them; have sustained holes within the canvas. One painting has been torn into two fragments. Five paintings will need new strainers and support. The original paintings will be displayed in the exhibition and reproductions will be placed in their original location. All documentation and subsequent treatments shall conform to the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. The government anticipates award of one firm-fixed price contract. Award is anticipated on or before September 24, 2010. The solicitation will be issued electronically on the Department of Interior's National Business Center (NBC) Website at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or around August 18, 2010. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be made available.
