- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Andor Technology,425 Sullivan Ave, South Windsor, CT 06074, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is to upgrade existing Andor Confocal Laser Spinning Disk System. The upgrade consists of the following components: 1) CR-CS10-UPG- Dichroic Mirror Upgrade (Qty 1). 2)CR-DMTR-514- Semrock Triple Dichroic mirror set for laser (Qty 1). 3) CR-DMQD-488 Quad Dichroic mirror set of laser (Qty 1). 4) ER-PCUV-101 Revolution 100 Series Precision Control Unit (Qty 1). 5) IQ-WSTN-PR2 Andor Imaging Workstation (Qty 1). 6) DU-897E-CSO-#BV-500 Confocal EMCCD Andor Technology monochrome CCD camera (Qty 1). 7) XS-INRE-002 Installation/Training (Qty1). 8) XS-REV2-024 Andor revolution Platinum Maintenance Contract (Qty1). 9) XS-INTR-002 Relocation and installation of system (Qty1). The Research project requires a spinning disk laser confocal microscope system for imaging neurons and their synapses in brain slices and measuring neurotransmitter releases in real time. By using the Andor exclusive iXon, recision Control Unit (PCU), Laser combiner and IQ software we achieve high performance control and tight synchronization of all components of the Revolution system. Andor is the manufacturer of the confocal system has the necessary parts and proprietary software to upgrade the system. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchase Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not request for competitive proposals; however,all responses received within 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with Andor Technology. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $100,000.
