Description
TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY Extraction, Recovery, and Purification Materials & Methods with Silico Titanates Sandia National Laboratories, the lead research and development laboratory for the Department of Energy's physical security programs, is seeking one or more business partners including, but not limited to the mining, geothermal, and/or mineral extraction field to develop Sandia's novel silico-titanates technology. Sandia is seeking a company or companies to commercially license the technology described in this posting and expects the successful company/companies to engage in the creation of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Sandia to further develop the technology. Commercial licensees will have the opportunity to obtain a license to the intellectual properties for reasonable compensation. It is expected that the company/companies that work with Sandia to develop the novel silico-titanates technology method will promptly incorporate it into a commercial product. Potential partners must provide Sandia information describing their ability to research, design, developdistribute, and market the extraction and recovery technology. The technology includes methods of making & using noval silico-titanates as well as a class of materials related to crystalline silico-titanates (CST) and CST-like materials for the capture, recovery, and purification of high value alkali metals (primarily Cs, Rb, K, and Li) from geothermal brines, brine concentrates, industrial wastes and industrial products. The CST-like materials are notable for their ability to selectively scavenge, concentrate, and purify alkali metals (principally Li, K, Cs, and Rb) from fluids containing only very small concentrations of the target metals and from chemically complex fluids where other dissolved constituents greatly outweigh the metals being sought. Other methods with these compositions shows they are particularly useful for chemical or biochemical reactions or removing radioactive matter and trace metals from a fluid stream. To express interest in this opportunity, please respond by mail to Jenna Esparza by 15 August 2010 at: Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0114, PO Box 5800, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87185, email: jmespar@sandia.gov, phone: 505.844.2205. Please indicate the date and title of the FBO notice. Include company and contact information as well as a description of how your company meets Sandia's criteria and could best contribute to the formation of a CRADA or license and subsequent commercialization of this technology. Sandia National Laboratories is a multi-program laboratory managed and operated by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
