Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing an Invitation for Bid for Removal and Disposal of Heavy Woody Vegetation at Dikes and Floodwalls, Woonsocket, RI. The proposed work consists of the removal and disposal of heavy woody vegetation from the side slopes and crests of earthen dikes, along channel improvement areas, and adjacent to concrete floodwalls along the Blackstone, Mill and Peters Rivers within the city limits of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. The earthen dikes are approximately 10 feet high, with a 10 wide crest, and 2:1 side slopes. The work limits include the following: River: Blackstone, Length of Dike: 5600 feet, Floodwall Length: 1900 feet, Channel Improvement Length: 8900 feet. River: Mill, Length of Dike: 2000 feet, Floodwall Length: 820 feet, Channel Improvement Length: 1700 feet. River: Peters, Length of Dike: 550 feet, Floodwall Length: 240 feet, Channel Improvement Length: 400 feet. There is extensive woody vegetation on and adjacent to the dikes, along the channel improvement areas and adjacent to floodwalls in the reaches indicated above. The majority of the trees requiring removal are 2 4 inches in diameter, with some exceeding this size. The condition along the Mill River is considered the worst with some of the larger trees requiring removal approaching 1-foot in diameter. Specific requirements will include removal and disposal of all vegetation on the dike crests and slopes, along the slopes of all channel protection, and 15 feet beyond the landward and riverward extremities of all project features. All removal shall be in accordance with specified Corps of Engineer criteria for control of vegetation on dikes and levees, including treatment of roots. All disposals shall be in accordance with specified federal, state and local criteria. Upon completion of removal and disposal, all disturbed areas shall be restored to the condition of adjacent, undisturbed areas. Contract work to commence in Feb 2010 The estimated cost of this procurement is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. This solicitation will be available on or about 27 November 2009 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov). Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is UNRESTRICTED. The applicable NAICS code is 237990 with a Small Business Size Standard of $33,500,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
